Mickelson Media
Phil Mickelson and his sister, Tina, a local teaching pro, have gone multimedia in separate ventures.
Phil released his DVD, “Phil Mickelson: Secrets to the Short Game,” in early May, and it debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s list of sales of recreational sports DVDs.
In an interesting story from after the release, tour veteran Ted Purdy said he bought the two-disc set ($49.99) in the airport because his short game was “just awful.” He watched it, worked on the advice, and two weeks later at the Valero Texas Open he posted his first top-10 since February 2007. Since then, Purdy has been in the 60s in six of eight rounds.
Tina Mickelson has partnered with Youreeeka to launch TinaMickelsonGolf.com, which features 50 video tips that can be purchased as downloads. Individual downloads are $1.99, while the entire package is $49.99.
“It’s cool. You can go out on the course and have these with you,” Tina Mickelson said. “I have a simplified approach to the golf swing. It’s an approach that I think everyone can utilize. It’s not so technical that they can’t understand it.”
